Staffs Union 1
Wooop sooo i decided to hide my first Geocache and wow, it’s not quite as i expected!! I decided to name it Staffs Union 1 and filled with some goodies and stashed it near the Uni Campus, and it got designated GC2CTNW
well I hid it on tuesday night around 10pm, and around 9pm the next day I got an email saying it had gone live on the website…
Well, i thought to myself, I wonder who’ll locate it first and claim the FTF badge i added, probs someone in the morning… Wells some people were defo keen! I got a message on twitter from dordotky saying he found it! Less than an hour after it went live!!
not bad hehe
At this time of writing five people found it in the first 24 hours, which isn’t too bad
hopefully we’ll get a good amount of people. I’m planning on hiding Staffs Union 2 somewhere near our Stafford campus in the next week or two
O yeah, i also added a trackable to the cache this evening
So if you happen to find Wiggler Bug out and about, please help him on his way
More Geocaching :P
Well today has had much more than that, but I thought I’d use geocaching as the title
I got my mum a new toy which is a laptop from PC World, she dumped money in my account and was like… “buy me a laptop” which was cool, she’s currently using my Ex’s old one i think which is a bit knackared but meh… so yeah I’m just installing all the stuff she likes and setting up bookmarks in the browser etc, and i’ll be going home next weekend so can deliver her the new toy
Ooooo i also got me two new pairs of glasses from specsavers
I’ve never had more than one pair of glasses before so i can mix and match and wear different ones on different days lol, or maybe swap halfway, the possibilities are endless!
but omg right… getting the glasses where a nightmare for bit! My opticians, Direkt Optik in hanley were refusing to give me my prescription over the phone for confidentially reasons despite me answering lots of security questions to varify my identity… but like 20 min later i asked specsavers about reserving the frames till i could find the prescription and they said they’d just ring up and get it… which they did with no questions asked from Direck Optik… soo… basically… they WONT give ME my OWN prescription… but they were happy to give the details out to a random bloke claiming to be from specsavers… Good one!!
ooooo now we come onto what this post was about.. Geocaching… lol well i was in stafford for the day, if i havn’t already mentioned that, but anyways, there were two caches near the train station so thought i’d go find them, and decided to drag Russel & Jimmy with me, anyways, we first went seeking:

GC14MZ6 – Stafford Town Park Micro which was in a cool spot and jimmy managed find it quite easily
Was a nice micro sized one and even included a pencil… the log is getting rather full and should probs get more sheets added to it… room for maybe three more people ?
Moving on, the next target was: GC17WE1 – SideTracked – Stafford (Pirates Treasure) and wow, I’m gonna say… hopefully without being a spoiler… it’s in one of the cutest hiding spots i found soooo far… again this was found without too much touble, and I decided to add a little something to this one:
So i added a $1 bill i had in my wallet
maybe someone might find it useful… O and left one of my new business cards
Well was a nice easy to finds, and hopefully will go for more when i next get a chance… Hopefully I’ll get a travelbug soon so i can see if she’ll get much travelling done… and hmmmm… I might even have to hid a cache or two of my own in the near future…
My New Hobby
So yeah… yesterday, I was bored and whilst trying to think of something to do i was flicking through apps I had on my iPhone and remember i installed the geocaching one a month or so ago, but never actually tried it out…
Well i gave it ago… and now, I think I’m slowly getting addicted!! I decided to head to the cloest one to my house which was GC1BKW7 – “Man Can’t Fly”. After about 20 min i gave up and decided to head to GC2C5GW – “I’m Stumped”. So i headed off in the direction of Hanley Park. As i walked towards where my iPhone said the cache was… I noticed a couple with a dog hunting around the area my iphone said to look… rummages in bushes and looking in tree stumps…
I thought to myself “noooo this can’t be a coincidence” and decided to introduce myself and say hello and ask “Hey i hope you don’t mind if I ask you a random question, but are you looking for something called I’m Stumped are you?” To which I was greeted with a smile and a yes
Turns out the friendly couple were MickandMandy and they gave me lots of tips and stuff and found the cache in the end, and helping get a joint FTF (First to Find).
So yeah, for my first time going Geocaching it was cool; and met some fellow people which was a pleasant surprise…
I decided to have another go this evening and dragged my bike out the shed and peddled straight for GC2AYWM – “Common Ground” Only took about 5 min or so of rooting around and located the cache
After signing the log book, i decided to drop off a big green squidgy stress toy shaped like a £ sign
didn’t take anything tho… and like previous logs had said, the trackable bug that was supposed to be in the cache seems to be missing
My next stop was to Head towards GC1TA1J – “Potteries Museum Geocache” it was only after about 5 min of hunting about when i decided to re-read the description and realised that i had to actually go inside the museum so I’d have to come back another day during opening hours
Deciding that one wasn’t enough, I thought i’d have another go at GC1BKW7 – “Man Can’t Fly” and this time I was more successful, but it still took about 15 more minutes of hunting around high and low… but I found it in the end

Well two days in, and three cache’s found… I think I’m gonna like this new hobbies… It’s definately already got me out of the house twice, and I’ve already planned some of my next couple of trips
So Far, So Good…
Well, the handover period has begun and I’m now just one week away from taking up my new role as Comms Officer
It’s been a fun week actually; defo from the start, what with me being shipped off to Leeds Met Uni for a conference, followed by a speeeedy return afterwards to Stafford for a nice BBQ with the Uni Exec
Had all sorts of different workshops and training sessions which have ranged from team building to effective ways to represent students… I even popped one of the evening events of the step ahead residential and met some of the new students i shall be representing from September
Well week one is done, one more to go before I fully take over as comms officer
